It has already been more than a month, but I haven’t forget that smell of Langkawi. The hot sun, but the sea breeze that smells like seafood and freedom. Freedom – yes, Langkawi definitely smells like freedom. Think about no constraint, cheap liquor, and sunny atmosphere which just erase stress off your mind immediately.
Definitely, words aren’t enough to describe how it felt.
Haven’t even reach Langkawi yet, and we were already greeted by this island.
Seriously, the water is soOOOoo clean and clear! Such a serenity! It reminded me of the beach at Australia 10 years ago. A peaceful view that is ever so beautiful~~~~
That island is Pulau Payar, which is around 30minutes away from Pulau Langkawi.
Of course, upon reaching Langkawi, I could almost cried with happy tears. It’s my first time in Langkawi, which I had hoped to go there YEARSSSSSSSSS ago. FINALLY!!!!
The sun is definitely very hot in Langkawi. How can you walk under such a HOT sun without a hat?
First stop at Langkawi is the Cable Car. A must visit! The green scenery you can expect from there is… …
Something like this. How can you miss it!!!!! It is seriously the best thing you can ever expect from the island.
There’s this “triangle bridge” thing at the hills. Yes, you can see it when you go further up in the cable car.
Good thing about the cable car ride is, it has many stops along the trip. You can get down halfway at the hills if you want to. Of course I got off at the top most LAST LAST stop. Wanted to see the whole island from top, but horrrrrr it’s quite scary to look down from there. Freaking high!!! You wouldn’t know how much I trembled when I took that picture.
Remember that “triangle” bridge thing I said? Yes, actually you can access that place by walking down from the top most last stop. I die die also want to go there. Not to miss anything!
and TA-DAA!!! Here it is. It’s actually around 2pm, very hot weather but the place is very windy. Chilling breeze~~~ It didn’t feel so hot then, but I forgot my sunblock!
The wind was very strong, and it almost blew my hat away~~~~~~~~
SEE!!!!! A picture of the hills, taken from the “triangle” bridge. Blue sky, green hills, just like a painting in the gallery.
I’m sure most of you have heard of the Lankawi legendary story of a princess and the curse right?
And this is the place.
There lies the tomb of the princess Mahsuri. I’m not too sure of how the story goes, but I think hor…..it roughly goes like this…
Many many decades ago, there’s a rumour of a very beautiful village lady. So beautiful that every men in the village wished to marry her. One day, the news spread to the King, and the King wanted to get his brother the Prince to marry the lady.
So, the wedding was held, and the couple spent a many happy years together and they had a child. Yet, their happiness didn’t last long when the Queen was soooo jealous of the princess’ beauty. Afraid of the throne been taken away, the Queen wanted her dead. Came one day, the Prince was out for something something (I forgot whether it’s a war or just some formal business thing), the servant girls of the Queen saw the Princess talking to a young man. Thus, the servants reported the news to the jealousy Queen. The Queen, thrilled by the chance she could had told the King about the news and they accused the Princes of adultery without further investigation.
Sounds very unfair right? Many villagers plead for mercy on behalf of the Princess, and so the death sentence was put on hold until the Prince got back home. Actually it’s pointless that the Prince got back home, ’cause he didn’t rescue his wife also. She was tied to a tree, tortured without food and water. Pierced by swords and spears, but none could pierce through her body. Finally, she revealed to the King that only the sacred sword of the family could kill her. So, the King took the sword and killed her. During her death, the princess cursed that her white blood will spill the land and it will not grow any grass nor provide them rice.
Okay, I’m not too sure how true is the curse, but some said it is true and the land hadn’t grow anything until recently, which is, the curse just ended.
Let’s not bother too much about the story. There’s a mini bird-zoo at the Mahsuri. I love this bird so much! It was so clever that it knows what to do. Wahaahhahahahaa… *laugh wickedly*
I was taking picture of the birds, and Z was talking to this bird loh… and…..
It PEE-ed at Z. So freakingly extremely utterly funny I couldn’t stop laughing at Z. Right until today when I think of it, I can still laugh at him.
This ain’t the last place you can go in Langkawi. Looks disgusting rite? Sadly, it’s the hot spring there. Damn gross and dirty. SOO muddy!!! I doubt if anyone wanted to soak their legs there.
There’s quite many spots you can visit in Langkawi, but I didn’t manage to visit all of them.
Another thing I enjoyed so much is the food at Langkawi.
SEAFOOD! Of course, you can have seafood anywhere else in Malaysia. This serving of “Gong Bao” squid is so fresh and juicy. I wanna taste it again~
Prawn in Bamboo, served with curry gravy. Nicely cooked.
I forgot the name of this fish, it is my one of my favourite fish type. We had it freshly steamed and yummm~~~~
Meow~
Of course, you will be the happiest if you’re a fan of liquor. FREAKING CHEAP LOH! Regret I didn’t buy more, could just smuggled them over so easily since I had already smuggled a few more bottles. *Cries* Okay, it’s not a good thing to do. Please be honest and follow the rules. Getting caught smuggling won’t do you any good, and your money will just get wasted.
I wish to go there again. When I had the time and most importantly – $$.
